Beauty Against Exploitation

The beauty industry is not just built on treatments. It is built on trust, and community. Industry professionals often spend significant 1-to-1 time with clients, placing them in a unique position to notice when something may not be right. 

Beauty Against Exploitation is our commitment to raising awareness of exploitation, abuse and modern slavery within the beauty sector. 

Through utilising education, safeguarding awareness, lived experience and partnership working, we aim to help beauty professionals feel confident recognising potential warning signs, and signposting individuals to specialist support where needed.

This is an ongoing project that is funded entirely by our volunteers. Our work aims to include:

• Safeguarding and exploitation awareness workshops for beauty professionals and learners.
• Information on recognising the signs of exploitation, coercive control and grooming.
• Guidance on responding safely and appropriately to concerns.
• Signposting to specialist organisations and support services.
• Community awareness campaigns promoting safety, confidence and empowerment.
• Partnerships with organisations working to prevent violence against women and girls, exploitation and modern slavery.

Together, we can help make the beauty industry not only a place of creativity and care, but also a place of awareness, safety and empowerment.
